Hi Everyone!
Well Portage lived up to its hype! The competition was legit even if the times weren’t quite as fast as Otsego a week ago which is not too surprising given how much cooler it was than at Portage.
With that we can see the end of the season is quickly approaching. We do not have a race this week. Next week we’ll have our Conference finals on Wednesday, and the following week we’ll have Regionals for the Varsity team with the Post-Regional Open Meet (PROM) for everyone else.
We’re looking at probably October 30th (although possibly the 29th as well) for our team dinner and awards night. We have a few details to confirm with the school’s schedule but wanted to get that on everyone’s radar early.
Finally, don’t forget to share any pictures you’ve taken with everyone in our 2024 team album found here.

Gallant Award
The Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’. Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.
The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.
Peter Keegstra
Everyone respects the person who shows up and goes to work and that’s Peter Keegstra. This dude puts in the work! Thank you, Peter, for being a great example!
Noelle Wielhouwer
Noelle always has a smile on her face. She never complains even when the work is hard. She’s always encouraging and lifts up those around her. Thank you, Noelle, for the positive impact you’ve had on UCXC!
