Hi Everyone!
What a great race on Wednesday! We saw some fantastic race times! So fun to see you guys all peaking at just the right time. It certainly helps to have such fantastic weather. The nerdsheets can be found below. Congratulations to our All Conference and Honorable Mentions:

As you guys know, this coming Thursday and Friday we do not have school, but I do still plan to hold practice. Friday we’ll take a bus out and preview the course. On Saturday we will be competing at the Regional meet in Allendale. There are more details on the meet below as well.
We are planning for our Team Awards night for Wednesday October 30th. We plan to open with prayer and start the processional through the food line right at 6PM, so come a few minutes early. This is a family friendly event, so younger siblings are absolutely welcome to come if they want! (Especially if they’re considering XC when they’re in HS and want to see what it’s about)
REMINDER!! – Your uniform must be laundered (aka washed), in a bag with your name on it and delivered to Mr. Bosma (Room 211). If you turn in your uniform without a name, it’s the same as not turning it in at all, so make sure you put your name on it!! Violators are at risk public shaming.
If you have any pictures you’ve taken be sure to share with everyone in our 2024 team album found here.
Finally, I’ve purchased a bunch of UCXC window stickers. They’re only $5 if you want to display your UC Pride on your Ride. I’ll have them with me all week and will also bring to the Team Dinner.
Race Day – Regionals
Well, the last 10 weeks have been leading up to this meet. The Varsity will be competing at an opportunity to advance to the State finals while the JV team will be competing in the Open Meet afterwards.
In order to advance to the State meet we need to finish in the top 3 teams held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI. It’s also possible for individuals to qualify to participate in the State meet if the team does not qualify. The top seven individuals not on one of the qualifying teams will advance.
Currently the Boys team is ranked 6th with a top 5 combined time of 1:26:06 and 157 points with Allendale in the lead (1:19:11 – 35pts), followed by Holland Christian (61) and GR Catholic Central (1:21:00 – 115pts) ranked 1st through 3rd.
The Girls team is currently ranked 3rd with a top 5 combined time of 1:38:30 and 77 points with Zeeland East in the lead (1:33:45 – 34pts), and Holland Christian (1:36:15 – 52pts) taking the lead. It looks like it’ll be a very competitive race.
The weather looks great (again!), if not a little warmer than I’d like to see it.

Gallant Award
The Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’. Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.
The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.
Evan Miedema
Evan has been leading the team as one of the Captains and it’s through these efforts that we recognize his contributions to UCXC. He’s always looking out for his teammates and making sure they’re where they need to be doing what they need to be doing. Thanks for the terrific contributions you’ve made this year, Mieds!!
Maya Van Solkema
Maya’s energic and sociable personality combined with her encouraging and hard-working attitude has earned her the reputation of being a great teammate and even better friend. Thank you for what you’ve brought to UCXC, Maya!
