Now that you guys have had a couple of weeks to recover from the Cross Country season, it’s time to start training again. 😃 The workouts are up here. These will be posted by 3PM each Sunday.
I hope you guys have had a chance to look at the new option for the Portage Winter Blast. I don’t know a bunch about it yet, but I have a friend who coaches at Byron Center. He recommended it to me, and will also be running with his team there as well. It has a few advantages, and couple disadvantages to the Ground Hog.
The advantages are it’s a lot less money. Plus, the event is at the end of February which brings us a lot closer to the of spring sports (track or girl’s soccer). This does make the build-up longer (15 weeks instead of 12) which could be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on your perspective 😂.
The disadvantage is that it’s in Portage in February which could be a bit of a drive. The other thing I don’t care for as much is that it’s on a Sunday instead of Saturday.
Anyway, I think I’d like to target our training around this later race. Hypothetically you could certainly race both if you so choose. 🤷
A reminder I’ll be at Huges Park Monday, and Wednesday nights at 7PM and Saturday morning at 8AM. Would love to see everyone, but don’t feel like you have to come if the timing doesn’t work great for you guys.
❄️Winter Warriors ❄️
Winter Warriors is a series of races with the final race being a half-marathon (13.1 miles). There will be a training plan to follow along to help prepare for this distance. We will have Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday group runs where I will be in attendance, or you can just simply follow along on your own schedule.
Don’t feel like you have to run all of the races in the series if you don’t want to! Also want highlight that anyone is able to join! If you have a friend, or family member that would like to participate, they are not only welcome, but encouraged!

Turkey Trot 🦃
The first race of the Winter Warriors is the Zeeland Turkey Trot. It’s an 8k (5 mile) race on Thanksgiving morning.

Resolution Run 🎉
The Resolution run is on New Years Eve in East Grand Rapids. It’s a 4-mile run round the lake.
