Week 4

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful Labor Day weekend! There’s a lot to look forward to this upcoming week! The temperatures will be much cooler which makes for terrific running weather! It’ll also be a short week of school and who doesn’t love short weeks! And finally we’re racing again on Saturday at the Christian School Invite is coming up on Saturday!

Race Day – Christian School Invite

CSI is held at the same venue as Under The Lights had been at South Christian. There will be much fewer participants and spectators, however, and sadly no fireworks. On the plus side, you’ll be able to see who you’re cheering for, and so many fewer shadows on the course!

This race is split into Varsity and JV with the boys racing first. You can check out the team roster to know who you’re cheering for! Here’s who will be competing on the Varsity Squads

Gallant Award

The Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’.  Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.

The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.

Alex TenHaken

Part of being UCXC is push through the things that are difficult which is exactly why Alex was selected to be honored with our Gallant Award. High effort becomes high gains! Let’s go Alex!

Avery Dekker

Mental toughness seemed to be the theme of the week as Avery was selected for the same reason as Alex had been; a mad respect for her effort in workouts especially on the water tower hill circuits. Great job Avery! Thanks for being such a great example for UCXC!
