Week 10

Hi Everyone!

I really can’t believe how fast this season seems to be going this year. We only have a couple of weeks left. This week will be the conference finals at Diamond Springs (details below). The results from Wednesday’s race, along with the rest of the season, will decide the team that will be competing at Regionals on October 26 with the rest of the team competing in the PROM (Post Regional Open Meet). Should we finish in the top 3 teams at Regionals, we will advance to the State meet at MIS Speedway on November 2. If not as a team, the top 7 athletes not on one of those top 3 teams may still qualify as individuals.

We did finalize Tuesday October 30th for our Team Awards night. We’ll be meeting in the Commons area at the High School. We’ll be having a potluck dinner, and Coach Kelly will be sending out a sign-up genius shortly so that we don’t all bring tortilla chips and have to eat from our hands because no one brought plates. We plan to open with prayer and start the processional through the food line right at 6PM, so come a few minutes early. This is a family friendly event, so younger siblings are absolutely welcome to come if they want! (Especially if they’re considering XC when they’re in HS and want to see what it’s about)

Finally, don’t forget to share any pictures you’ve taken with everyone in our 2024 team album found here.

Gallant Award

The Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’.  Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.

The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.

Jayden Alvarez

Jayden has had a tough couple of weeks after an emergency appendectomy. But he hasn’t let that defeat his spirit. His grit has been an inspiration.
Great job Jayden!

Natalie Kooyer

Natalie was chosen for the way she lifts up those around her. She’s always encouraging, has a smile on her face, and can talk about anything. Thank you, Natalie, for the way you lift up UCXC!
